The department of computer science at college of education of pure science held a scientific symposium entitled “Mathematics and its Role in the Encryption Process” in the main Hall of the conferences and symposium on Tuesday, 1/11/2016. The aim of this symposium was to make the students understand the important role of the mathematics in the encryption and decryption of data and information by using the algorithms and the complex logarithms. The symposium has included a definition of the encryption as a science has using for the security and confidentiality of the information. That, by using the encryption we can save the sensitive information or transmitted them over non-secure networks such as the Internet network, and it cannot be reading it by anyone except the person sent to him. The goal of encrypt data or information is to achieve a number of goals such as confidentiality and privacy. It is a service used to save the information content from all the persons except those who are authorized to access these information. As well as it used to proof of identity of the persons which are authorized to deal with these data. The symposium has also discussed the types of encryption and decryption. The lecturers have mentioned to the importance of mathematics as the language of science and an important tool of scientific development in encryption, by using algorithms, logarithms and matrices. Also, they have clarified the RSA algorithm and its role in the encryption process. In the end of the symposium the lecturers have clarified the importance of mathematics in cryptography. Since mathematical algorithms, functions, complex logarithms and matrices have very important role to provide privacy and security of data transmitted over the open networks.
